Talking about last minute! The image deadline for book three, Y Swyngyfaredd was today and by 4.30 I was still working on the left hand page, 'detail' files. I thought I had plenty of time to catch the post but how time accelerates when a deadline is looming. I went to burn the CD at 5.15 ready to catch the last post and hey presto, "Lead-in, Lead-out" errors. It failed three times before I quit Toast and reloaded all the files into a new folder and switched disc format. I set it to burn and then sprinted to the post office to ask them NOT to close! They were angels and waited until 5.30 exactly when I burst through the door clutching my discs!Why not FTP everything? Because the last time we tried that with several gigabytes of info we had several read errors at the other end, even though Cyberduck showed no problems.
Anyway, apart from scanning some very old images of Nant Gwrtheyrn which I will do first thing tomorrow, I have FINISHED ALL MY IMAGES for the book :-) I was planning on going out tonight to celebrate but my translators, Ann Corkett and Dr Bruce Griffiths, continue to need my input on Welsh versions of my quotes and titles :-((( That apart, I am delighted to have finished the really hard bit. Now I have to chose the cover!
Maybe I should out 3 or 4 shortlisted cover pix in here and get you to vote :-)) The printers have booked a slot for Feb 11th so it's all systems go !
