A Very Mixed Day

Today has been very mixed! Sold an Anglesey Landscapes II book to a Welsh speaking customer this morning so it was great to have the opportunity for a little more Welsh speaking practice. Apart from that though the gallery has been very quiet today, apart from a really rude older couple who just waltzed in without saying hello, span around just the downstairs gallery, huffed at the £3 price on the hand made cards and then just walked out slamming the door behind! Where do people learn to be so rude!

Spent the morning mostly writing letters to galleries around the UK following some great leads from my colleagues on the Pro Imaging List. Already discovered that the Lowry Centre in Manchester can’t take my “The Enchantment” show as they are fully booked until 2011 and I have this feeling it will be the story everywhere? So IF you want to see this major show, Cardiff MAY be your only opportunity, this year at least! Several more enquiries to go though so I will keep my fingers crossed. The book files have had their pre-flight and it’s due to be on the press early next week, VERY exciting.

I needed to speak with my colleague in Switzerland about a joint print sales project which I am quite excited by, but didn’t want to spend a fortune on phone calls should it all come to nothing! So for £20 I took delivery of my new IPEVO phone and simply plugged it in after downloading Skype, ah the instant wonders of Apple Macs! Spoke with a great colleague in Scotland first and then I made my call to Switzerland, all for FREE! Amazing. Strange watching somebody in another country on your screen as you talk to them in real time!!

Jess, my work experience girl, and a friend of the family, turned up this afternoon to get the school's forms signed - what an amazingly articulate and informed 15 year old she is, wants to be a barrister and honestly deserves to be! She talked about world issues, politics and ethics with more awareness and compassion than many adults I know! The 5 minute form filling turned into a half hour discussion and was one of the highlights of the day.

I have prepared a set of jpegs from RAW for a client who chanced upon me whilst out photographing the fog earlier this week and have calculated and prepared prices for use for him. Uploaded everything via Cyberduck to the website. So effective, so fast.

Then had a chat with the police! I witnessed yet another car collision outside the gallery before Christmas due to bad driving, and agreed to act as a witness to the poor person who returned to her damaged car. Got a few funny looks from customers at the window watching me being interviewed by the boys in blue though, lol!
