Sorry for the lack of updates this week, but the pressure has really been on. Writing articles for press releases, preparing images for magazines, editing customer databases and verifying e-mail addresses (just under a 1000) have themselves been time consuming, but I have also been printing about 45 large format prints for the Cardiff exhibition as well. Tomorrow we start the framing! Over and above all of this, we have still been surprisingly busy with gallery visitors, which has been a good but added distraction. 500 printed invites arrived today, now needing posting!
So far the British Institute of Professional Photography magazine, The Photographer, has published an eight page article about the project, entitled "There be Dragons" and Digital Photographer have also reviewed it. As you all know by now, the Welsh TV company have also filmed an article for their popular arts programme, Sioe Gelf. There are several other prominent media outlets and book reviews going to happen and I will tell you as they come to fruition. I can already tell you, and am delighted to announce, that Lord Dafydd Elis-Thomas is going to open my exhibition, followed by Nant President, Dr Carl Clowes, before a short talk by me.The book itself is fantastic! I am REALLY pleased. It is a much weightier tome than the Anglesey Landscapes books, with 152 pages and around 100 images, 71 of them full page. It's external dimensions are almost identical to the Anglesey volumes however, so this new one will sit perfectly alongside them on the bookshelf. This matters to me. Amongst what often seems like chaos on my office desks, I still have a need for neatness and regularity as well. I have always liked the original AOP Awards books, and in fact my own books bear a striking resemblance! There is a lot more text than in my other books. I wonder how many people actually read the text, which can really heighten the appreciation of the images in my opinion? Personally, I love reading the personal insights from other artists.
We have taken pre-orders for 4 books already today, even though everyone knows they are not strictly available until after April 4th! This is good news to my mind! If any of you want to make sure you get YOUR early copies, please click HERE to pre-order them on-line.Best wishes
