Nant Gwrtheyrn Book & Exhibition Launch - Wales Millennium Centre

This our own VIDEO from the launch night of my new book and exhibition of the same name - "Nant Gwrtheyrn: The Enchantment - Y Swyngyfaredd" at the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff.

The first three speakers gave their talk in Welsh (on the night there was a simultaneous translation facility) but as a Welsh learner it was wise to give my speech in English! For non Welsh speakers, my English section appears just over a third of the way into the video.

In order of appearance:

Bet Davies, Head of Press & Public Relations at the Wales Millennium Centre

Lord Dafydd Elis Thomas - Presiding Officer of the National Assembly of Wales

Dr Carl Clowes - Founder & President of Nant Gwrtheyrn Welsh Language Centre

Glyn Davies - The artist and author of The Enchantment

Carol Mead (Able Creations) - Poet, and Glyn's wife :-)

It was a BRILLIANT evening and although not a large turnout at around 40-50 guests, those who attended, many of whom had travelled long distances, were all really positive and enthusiastic about the work and the book and seemed genuinely delighted to have made the effort. Afterwards, around 20 of us went onto the Turkish restaurant in Cardiff Bay (almost literally!) for a meal and drinks. From my point of view, espcially as I was now nice and relaxed after the speech, it was a shame the evening had to end. It was also nice to see several of my photo colleagues from the AOP and PI at the event and had great compliments from my peers which is always seems to tick all the boxes in terms of an artist's feedback. I would like to take this opportunity to thank EVERYONE who attended and who made the evening so relaxed and such fun, and special thank yous to Lord Dafydd Elis Thomas, Dr Carl Clowes, Jim O Rourke, Bet Davies, Liz Birchall, my Mum & Dad who helped hang the show, Andy the technician and a particluar thanks to my wife Carol, for giving a surprise, and beautiful poem reading at the end, dedicated to me - blew me away!!! :-)

The exhibition comprised 43 large format prints and runs between April 5th and April 27th 2009. The exhibition will next be shown in Bangor throughout August 2009.
