Four Editions, One Day, One Customer, No.1 Fan !

Motionless in the Fog © Glyn Davies 2010

This week, Arwel & Amy popped by, and walked out with FOUR Limited Edition A2's. It surprised them as much as me, but Arwel has been collecting my work for almost nine years now and his house interior is 'literally' covered in my work, from halls to bedrooms :-) He knows and is proud to be my biggest customer ever, and I'm even thinking of doing an article about him and why he loves and collects my work.

Fortunately his partner Amy also enjoys my work, which makes things a little easier on her :-) and this time her personal favourite, one of my new images, was entirely her choice, "Motionless in the Fog". It goes without saying that I am extremely grateful to both Arwel and Amy for their loyal and unwavering support, especially in times like these when many other galleries in the area have closed or been taken over.

He already has his eye on another A1 but I'm not telling anyone which it is, for I think his name is on it!

Two Little Poets Brighten My Day

Two really bright cute kids, Jenna & Mac Alexander came into my gallery a week or so ago, (with their folks of course!) and we ended up talking about the sea and beaches, surprise surprise :-) Anyway I showed them my wife's illustrated poetry book, "Sea Things", illustrated by my dad, Gareth Davies. The little girl, Jenna, instantly identified several of the creatures in the book and even correctly named the Blue Whale!

So I read them three poems, crouched in the middle of the gallery floor ! "Me and Mr Shark", "The Wibble Wobble Song" and "Rockpool Surprise". They hung on every word, and I felt proud to read Carol's verses. Anyway the kids seemed so pleased that I asked them to write Carol a poem for the next time they came to Wales. This morning I was absolutely DELIGHTED to see them race through the door carrying some large sheets of paper on which they had written and drawn their own illustrated poems :-)

 By Mac (year 4)

"Silver and Star are their names
They are very tame.
These two seagulls sit and wait,
Greeting people as they drive through the gate"
(based on a visit to Llanddwyn Island)

by Jenna (year 1)

"I was walking on the beach and I saw a lovely stone.
I called to Dad but he was on the phone.
I called to Mum but she was having a moan.
I called to Mac but he was buying a cone.
So I climbed up high to reach the stone -
Whoops! I fell and broke a bone!"

To Jenna & Mac, thank you both so much for brightening up my day and for writing such lovely poems for me and Carol

If two young kids can walk into my gallery and be so inspired by poetry, I can see why teachers are asking Carol to do more and more workshops in schools, brilliant! If you are a teacher and would like to see Carol running workshops in your school, then please contact her directly by email HERE.

If you simply want to buy a copy of her book, Sea Things, then please buy it here on her website Able Creations or ring me direct at the gallery to order yours.
