Update - Weatherman Walking- The Verdict!

Last night we got to see the long awaited, finished, edited programme for the Weatherman Walking series, and although I wish it was longer, I was actually VERY happy with the edit, the inclusion of several of the jokey remarks between me and Derek and loads of sumptuous TV camera shots of the swirling atmospheric conditions. I was equally delighted with the way my own images came out on TV. Often they can look soft and either too vivid or too washed out on TV but these were really excellent. The actual walk we did is detailed here on the BBC site.

Me and Derek on the summit of Garn Ganol, Yr Eifl - 2010

I've received loads of lovely feedback from people and a possible book order, so hardly world shattering financial reward so far but a great feel good feeling ! However, the programme has inspired me to think far more closely about TV work and I have already put together some very exciting ideas for TV programmes I want to pursue in my own right (and for which I will actually be able to make some money :-))

These series are often repeated so if you did miss the episode, I'm sure you will get to see it again. For a very short period, you can see the actual program here on iPlayer.

My third book, Nant Gwrtheyrn - Y Swyngyfaredd (The Enchantment)

If you did see the programme and would like to see more of my images from the area, my book, Nant Gwrtheyrn - Y Swyngyfaredd (The Enchantment) is available direct from the gallery on 01248 715511 or from my web store HERE.

If you loved the look of Nant Gwrtheyrn the village, then this is the link to their main web-site together with accommodation and event booking details as well as Welsh courses. NANT GWRTHEYRN

I would like to thank the director, crew and editors for producing such a great 15 minute piece. PS You know where I am for the next series ! :-)

This programme is responsible for introducing me to your work. The enthusiasm you show for your work and your passion for the landscapes of North Wales is truly inspirational. I currently avoid photographing in poor weather, but this will now change. I’ll now attempt to be more creative and make full use of the conditions, whatever they may be.

Diolch.

Hi Kevin

Many thanks for your comment and I TOTALLY agree that there are no decent photography shows on TV. Trust me, I am investigating this and the chance of creating some of my own. I will keep folks posted !

I look forward to meeting you in the gallery, Best wishes, Glyn

Hi Glyn,
A great little piece and it looked like you were enjoying it too.
Your images came out really well on TV. Shame it was only 15mins long, I think you could have got a really good 30/45 min programme on the area and the photography aspect.
Really enjoyed it.
Another string to the bow mate--TV presenter.

Regards,

Ken.

Hi Glyn,
I managed to see Weatherman Walking almost by accident because when you mentioned it to me (Lucky Welsh Horseshoe?) I thought it had already been!
I thought it was great, especially as I was in the area a few days before (on way to Hell's Mouth) and was looking for a layby/footpath to start for the Rivals from. Now that I know the start point and how superb it is, I'll be heading off that way again soon.
Best Wishes
Daniela

@Ken, nice one Ken, actually I'd love to do more TV, especially presenting and I have some really good ideas for photography programmes as well. I know my market, and I'm not sure the TV programmes know the photography market like I do, after nearly 30 years in this game. I'd be able to produce some really captivating programmes which would engage with the viewers but I am in the earliest days of discovering how to go about doing this, and I think it's a minefield of having your ideas stolen !

@Daniela, ha, I met you in the shop I know, because I remember your name, but what was the Lucky Welsh Horseshoe reference :-) Glad you caught the programme as the link has disappeared already from iPlayer ! :-(

Best wishes to you both
Yours, Glyn

Hi Glyn,
yes, it was your Elidir Fawr & Carnedd Filiast blog - my little bit of (anonymous) fame?
I've been looking at your blog, for inspiration and motivation. Also have been remembering my camera when I go into the hills. Bit frustrated sometimes with just having a compact though.
Maybe we'll bump into each other on another hilltop sometime?
