"Rising in Cold Air" - My highest value print to date

I will be writing a full report about the whole London exhibition experience as soon as possible, about the things I learned, the shortfalls, the pitfalls, but also the excitement, the success and the fun, as it really was a week of contrasts BUT in the meantime :-) ........

"Rising In Cold Air" Elidir Fawr - sells for £ 1950 in London © Glyn Davies 2011

I really do want to let you know that I am thrilled at the sale of "Rising in Cold Air" Elidir Fawr, the second of three A1 Edition prints, for £ 1950.00 inc. VAT and framing. Though still wildly under the prices some of my London based colleagues are commanding, it is nevertheless a huge endorsement of the value people place in my work and of course an even bigger compliment.

I won't receive all that fee of course, as the gallery, quite normally takes it's 30% commission, followed by Customs & Excise and the Inland Revenue, but at least I know my work can attain these prices and that from my customers' perspective, prints they buy for enjoyment, are continually increasing in investment value at the same time.

For the first time ever in my career, I am also strangely concerned about how I will feel when the 3rd of 3 large prints sells, and I will never be able to see it at that size again! I now empathise with how painters and sculptors must sometimes feel when their work leaves the studio.

If you would like to own the last print in this A1 edition you need to act quickly, as once it's gone it's gone forever. This can now ONLY be ordered direct from the gallery on 01248 715511

"Temptation" was not too much in London!

"A very Welsh landscape, wet and river-scarred, huge gouges and scratches down an earthy hillside. Visitors to the London show varyingly described it as "Like a horse's back" "Like a seal's skin" and several other organic, animal-like descriptions. A small peaty pool stands out in almost irresistible light over the flood-lit ridge, drawing us towards danger, like helpless moths in porch light. After a strenuous Carneddau walk in serious winds, my petite female companion was hesitant about attempting this last ridge, which put me off too, so we decided to forgo the attempt. Within ten minutes of our consequent descent we were being lashed by torrential rain and became soaked to the skin, even through our Goretex weather gear! So thankfully we did not fall prey to careless temptation, and were simply glad to finally be off the mountain and back at the van, cold and soaked but warmed from the inside by hot sweet coffee and a sense of relief"
