First Virginal Explosion Sells Today

Today, the same lovely guy who returned to my gallery and bought "A Dark Blanket" also brought his wife with him, and she fell in love with "Virginal Explosion" shot this winter in the Carneddau, and one of my personal favorites from the recent set.

Available in signed, numbered editions of 3 x A1 and 5 x A2 on 200 year archival fine-art rag papers.

"An icy cold but beautiful day in the snowy mountains of the lower Carneddau. The walk which we planned to finish in 5 hours had to be shortened drastically as thick snowdrifts made progress unbelievably slow. We cut out two peaks just below the summits, to save time, but still ended up on dangerous unconsolidated snow which hid treacherous ankle snapping sinks into streams below, as we headed down into the Aber valley in near darkness. Lessons to be learned for sure".

So not only was Mark true to his word about returning to the gallery with his wife, the two were really excited by the show and ended up walking off with not one, but TWO Limited Editions from my latest show, which is superb news for the gallery and vital for my new project.

I am going to splash out on fish & chips and a beer tonight I can tell you! :-) Might even buy Carol a bag :-)

All in all, a brilliant day here in the gallery, friends and their wedding gift selection, edition sales to a lovely family, and even a meeting with a delightful new model for my nude landscape project "Under Wraps" (working title).

A Dark Blanket - First A1 of a 5 edition sells today

Today, a really lovely bloke came into my gallery, clutching a cute baby, and asked about framing. I don't do framing so couldn't help but whilst he was chatting with me, I could see him looking about him at my pictures on the walls. He said he'd be back as he was really moved by my work. A lot of people say they'll be back but don't mean it, but true to his word, Mark returned with is wife this afternoon and fell in love with "A Dark Blanket" captivated by the intense glow of light in the otherwise neutral dusk landscape.

Mark came in wanting a frame and walked out with an A1 Edition Print.

"A Dark Blanket" The Menai Bridge, Anglesey - Further copies available HERE

Description: "Maybe it's old age, maybe I'm getting soft, maybe I'm compromising my principles, but whatever, I have just shot a second image of the bridge at night from the infamous layby - aaarrrggghhhh. This was a very spontaneous decision. Carol and I were coming back from the far side (of Anglesey) - we were stuffed on great food and drunk on beautiful light, and the clouds were just getting more and more beautiful. Just as we approached the last road home, I swung the van about and raced for the lay-by, just to see if the bridge was looking good against this amazing darkening sky. Even by the time I'd parked up the light was changing the contrast weakening and the clouds changing and literally after I'd clicked just one long exposure, a car drew up, a bunch of peeps jumped out and a lady started quizzing me about what I was taking and how I was taking it :-( That was it, I'd lost the moment, so this one shot is all I've got, but I think the conditions were changing so fast I may have lost the chance anyway ! Should have been there 10 minutes earlier! I think I may have to resign myself to the fact that I MAY end up shooting from this viewpoint yet again sometime, and just be happy to do so - I have to admit, I'm lucky to be so close to such an amazing view :-)"

Slowly Drowned by Evensong at their Wedding

We have had the pleasure of knowing Sian for several years now as she is the gorgeous daughter of my best friends, Mel and Awen. I've seen and heard all about her life, her Uni days and her well deserved success as she moves up through the ranks of the legal profession. It was perhaps hardly surprising that she should meet a really nice guy from the same profession, and indeed we met Jamie, a solicitor, about two years ago now. To cut a long story short, Jamie became a fiancée and he and Sian are now getting married at one of my favourite places in the world, Nant Gwrtheyrn, this Spring.

It was a delight for me and Carol to offer them one of my A1 Limited Editions as a wedding gift, so today they both arrived to choose their print. Several coffees later and they had decided on "Slowly Drowned by Evensong" No. 1 of 10, a sumptuous dusk image of the magical little church at Porth Cwyfan. They won't see the image again til their wedding but I was delighted to see their excitement at being given free reign in the gallery :-)

All that remains is to wish them both all the very best for their wedding and more importantly, for a long and happy life together (with no legal battles!!! :-))

We'll see you both at the wedding guys, and are really looking forward to it :-))
